MONTEGO BAY, St James — An extra-time goal from Michael Samuels carried John Rollins Success Primary to an upset 1-0 win over defending champions Granville All-Age in the semi-finals of the St James Football Association VMBS Under-13 competition at the UDC playing field on Tuesday.

John Rollins Success were in the semi-finals for the first time and handed Granville All-Age their first loss of the season and also were the first team to score against the champions all season.

In tomorrow’s final, John Rollins Success Primary will face former champions Corinaldi Avenue Primary, who beat Howard Cooke Primary 2-0 in the other semi-final on Tuesday.

John Rollins Success Primary and Granville were tied at 0-0 through the regulation 60 minutes and five minutes of the first period of extra time before Samuels came up with a peach of a free kick from about 20 yards out, lifting the ball over the wall and dipping it under the cross-bar in the top left hand corner.

Corinaldi Avenue’s Jaden Jumpp scored in the first half of the other semi-final to give his team the lead, then Dujaun Wilson headed home a cross late in the second half to seal the victory.
