JSE e-Campus students graduate
November 14, 2014
More than 20 students recently graduated from the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) e-Campus Online postgraduate diploma and certificate courses. The JSE e-Campus is a web-based e-learning system that allows students to attend courses online. However, students also get the opportunity to interact with lecturers and tutors in lively classroom sessions.
Lessons were interactive with video and audio clips of lecturers, and students were able to read content, view e-books, and do tests and other exercises relating to a specific course. Additionally, students were able to bookmark their position in each course and resume it from that point at any time within the duration. The system tracks participants' usage and scores from tests.
At least one eight-hour session is required to complete the credit hours. Ten students graduated from cohort four and received postgraduate diplomas, while Veron Miller-Burton graduated from cohort three. Michelle Currey, Ronique Holgate and Christopher Smith graduated from Cohort two, and there were six certificate course recipients that were also recognised for their academic achievement.
Chairman of the JSE board and senior vice-president of group strategy at Victoria Mutual Building Society, Allan Lewis, in commending the graduates, said the JSE and its subsidiary companies will provide more opportunities for personal and professional development as they contribute to the performance of the JSE and the growth and development of their country.
Meanwhile, Sandra Shirley, principal of the JSE e-Campus, thanked the graduates for choosing to be a part of the e-Campus programme. "Think of your achievement as a step of self-improvement for yourself. It affirms that you have renewed key knowledge areas and continue to contribute to the financial sector. Thanks for selecting the JSE e-Campus, because we know you had other options. Overall, we are happy that we helped you to achieve your personal improvement programme," Shirley said.
